2nd Saturday Tasting – Saisons!

WoB2We are looking forward to our second Saturday tasting and education today at World of Beer – South End. It’s no secret that we look forward to all of our events, but today we will be tasting Saisons and we happen to think that this is the best way to kick off the summer.

We know that many of you have big Mother’s Day weekend plans, but if you find an hour or two to join us starting at 3 p.m. for just $10 per person, it will definitely be worth your while! See you soon!

Trappist Tasting at Common Market South End – 5/9/13

trappist

We are taking a little break in April, but we hope that you can stop by our first event in May!

Join us for Common Market’s Trappist tasting on Thursday, May 9th, where we will taste a selection of at least 5-6 Trappist brews, of the now 8 breweries in existence. The cost is just $5 per person.

What is a Trappist beer? Trappists are monks and nuns in the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance and they have over 150 monasteries all over the world. Of these monasteries, only 16 are members of the International Trappist Association, which is similar to a trade organization. Products made at those monasteries are sold under their strict guidance, with the profits going back into the upkeep of the monasteries and anything additional going to charity. Of those 16 monasteries, 8 currently brew beer under the close supervision of the Association and it must be brewed in the monastery either by or under the supervision of monks.

Now that you know what it is, you definitely want to try these! We hope that you can join us and if the weather is nice, the outdoor courtyard will be a nice way to spend our evening.

Cheers!

Share Your Passion!

heart-ribbon-craft-beerWe look forward to seeing you ladies out for February’s Second Saturday tasting event at World of Beer for something pretty special.  How could we possibly get through the month of February without holding a Valentine’s themed tasting?  This one is sure to be full of fun and interesting surprises, because we will be sampling beer with ingredients that might be commonly considered aphrodisiacs.   In addition, now you also have a chance to bring in something of your own to share! It is not required that you bring in a bottle because there will be plenty to go around just from the World of Beer provided tasting, but if you happen to have a favorite beer that you are passionate about, this is your opportunity to bring it in and share it with a few others.  How much fun is that?!
As always, bring a friend, enjoy some great beer, meet some fellow craft beer lovers, and perhaps even win a prize or two.  The cost of the tasting is just $10.  Also, please keep in mind that World of Beer does not serve food, so feel free to bring in a snack or two.
See you there starting at 3 p.m.!

Help A Kid, Earn a Pint

January 29th marks the start of something rather special – this is the start of some great relationships that we look forward to building as we move through 2013.   We are joining forces with #CLTBeerUp for a special event at Good Bottle Co. on January 29th. What is #CLTBeerUp, you ask? Well if the hashtag doesn’t give it away, you definitely need to attend for some social media madness and of course, great beer! #CLTBeerUp is a group of Twitter users in Charlotte who also happen to be fans of craft beer – so come see how the social media and beer worlds combine.

As a side note, we will be collecting items for some Charlotte area children who are in need, and we are asking for your help to make this possible. They are currently in serious need of children’s books (all ages), book bags, pull-ups, wipes, toiletries, notebooks, shoe laces, uniforms, underwear, tank tops, t-shirts, and socks.

If you bring an item from the list of needs to this event at Good Bottle Co. on January 29th, we will buy you a pint!

Please send me a message if you have any questions at all and keep an eye on our Facebook page for additional updates.

We hope to see you there!

Starting 2013 With A Bang!

image

2012 was a very successful year for the Charlotte Beer Babes. Together, we shared in a number of local brewery tours, special tastings, beer education, and other fun events. We made new friends, enjoyed some great craft beer, and perhaps most importantly – we gave our support to the growing Charlotte beer community.

Since our group started up just over one year ago, we’ve watched our numbers steadily increase with more and more women in the Queen City continuing to show interest in craft beer – and quite frankly, we couldn’t be more pleased. It is important that we say thank you to everyone who supported our efforts throughout the year, whether by attending or hosting our events, or by spreading the word about us to friends and through social media. Without each of you, we could never make any of this possible.

So, where do we go from here? 2013 is shaping up to be a stellar year with exciting events already booking up, so stick with us to see what happens. For starters, we’ll do our Second Saturday education and tasting at World of Beer on January 12th, where Sours will be the featured style this month. This one is going to be a real treat! On another note, we think we may need to come up with a new name for this regular event instead of continuing to call it “Second Saturday”, so put your thinking caps on because a contest may be coming soon.

Following up later in the month, we will share in a first-time combined event with the #CLTBeerUp group at the recently opened Good Bottle Co. on January 29th. It will be a #Twitter and #CraftBeer extravaganza! Look for specific details on this event in the next few days, as it is gearing up to be something pretty special.

Until we share a pint together again, we would like to wish all of you Charlotte Beer Babes a Happy New Year and may 2013 be your best one yet! Cheers!
